Rev De Jesus would like to bring a team from Davis Street UMC to visit “Spring Forest” in Hillsborough, NC on Sunday, August 25th @ 4:00-6:00pm, upon the invitation of Dr. Elaine Heath (former Dean of Duke Divinity School, Duke University). Please plan on a light meal served at Spring Forest. And feel free to make a donation toward the food. The main goals of the visit are: (1) to come and see what God is doing to bring about fresh expressions church; (2) to learn about holistic spirituality, hospitality around the table, fresh expressions and sustainable living in community; (3) to acquire practical ideas so that Davis Street UMC will become a hub of community engagement, innovation and impact.
“Spring Forest” is a 23-acre United Methodist intentional community that is a home, farm and place of hospitality. The Garden Produce and animals raised at Spring Forest enjoy a peaceful, natural, organic life cycle. Beginning Fall 2019 Spring Forest will host a weekly dinner church. The table with locally sourced foods is at the center of our gatherings, and communal practices of hospitality, prayer, and justice are core to our identity. The People and The Community at Spring Forest is a diverse group of people gathered around God through a common set of spiritual practices that help us to love God, one another, our neighbors, and the rest of creation.
