Message from the Pastor

Greetings and May the Peace of Christ Be With You.

I am Reverend Jesse Baker, the new Senior Minister of Davis Street United Methodist Church. I’m so delighted that you’ve chosen to learn a little more about me and our close-knit community church.

I’m a West Virginia native who has happily called North Carolina my home since 2005. After earning my degree from Duke Divinity in 2011, I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve churches throughout Eastern NC, a journey that has enriched my life in innumerable ways. I’m an ardent lover of all things creative, a perpetual learner, and a firm believer in the healing power of laughter.

My wife Alison and sons Kellen and Micah love being in Burlington. Living in the heart of North Carolina is a joy that keeps on giving.

In my role at Davis Street UMC, my heartfelt desire is for us to cultivate a community that prioritizes seeking God and God’s Kingdom. We have much to discern and discover as we move forward together. Despite any uncertainties that may lie ahead, I am firm in my belief that with Christ as our guiding light, clarity of vision, wisdom, and purpose will be unveiled.
